Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive systematic literature review of e-payment implementation in mosques. This paper aims to synthesize and extend the current understanding of (i) the definition of e-payment, (ii) theories used to measure awareness, and (iii) awareness themes in the previous research. Using PRISMA methodology, the study re - analysed secondary data collected from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. The search results identified 304 articles for screening and only 118 articles were selected for data extraction after meeting the selection criteria through a systematic search process. For the first objective, the review results suggest that the term digitalization is the best definition to explain the concept of e-payments. The second objective revealed that TAM and UTAUT are found as the most popular models in describing the awareness of e-payment acceptance. While for the third objective, the systematic review has successfully derived 7 themes of awareness factors of the use of e-payment in various contexts. The results of the study are believed to help policymakers, practitioners, and researchers to develop the best model to increase the awareness of parties related to increasing donation rates with the use of e-payments. Finally, some limitations and suggestions can be made for future studies.
